Last April, we talked about everything we had done in the field of CSR since the beginning of the year. Throughout this last quarter, we have continued actions such as employee portal surveys and after works, held on the last Thursday of each month. In May, a new edition of the Once Enki Arce Clima Trophy was organized by the Sada Athletics Club to include people with functional diversity in the sports activity.
To all this, we have added new initiatives, which we’ll talk about below.
EQUALITY AND INTERNAL COMMUNICATION
Last March, a Royal Decree-Law 6/2019 on “urgent measures to guarantee equal treatment and opportunities between women and men in employment and occupation” was approved. Thus, the Equality Act was amended: from 7 March 2022, all companies with more than 50 employees must have an equality plan.
At Arce Clima, we firmly believe in gender equality. That is why we have decided to get ahead of the legislation by creating an Equality Commission to prepare such a plan. In the coming months, we will be able to give more information about Arce Clima’s measures in this area.
On the other hand, we have conducted the first Clima survey, aimed at all the company staff. This action will be the basis for our Human Capital Management Project. The reception has been very positive, reaching participation of 70%.
PLOGGING DAY WITH GRUPO NATURALISTA HÁBITAT
In June, we carried out our first corporate volunteering activity within the volunteering policy framework that we presented a few months earlier. The premiere of Arce Clima in this area has been produced by the Grupo Naturalista Hábitat, a non-profit entity for the study and conservation of the natural spaces of Galicia.
Voluntarily, the team participated in a plogging day in the Mero River vicinity in Cambre, a municipality about 12 km from A Coruña. Many relatives also attended. But what is plogging?
Plogging is an activity that combines physical exercise with waste collection and love for nature. It has its origin in Stockholm.
Thanks to this initiative, we enjoyed nature while taking care of it: on our tour, we collected a total of 14 kg of garbage, mostly plastic. We also took the opportunity to learn more about the Mero River’s biodiversity, which is integrated into the Mariñas Coruñesas E Terras do Mandeo Biosphere Reserve.
All attendees were given a gift: a social initiative cotton backpack and a reusable water bottle, both screen-printed with the program #VOOLUNTARIADO de Arce Clima’s logo.
SUMMER ACTIONS
In Arce Clima, the beginning of summer and the second semester has been marked, as has been customary for more than a decade, by one of the most representative symbols of the Galician summer: la churrascada.
The whole team was invited to enjoy a great feast of different grilled meats held at our facilities in Culleredo.
In parallel, several posters have been placed in the office to promote fruit consumption in the office. We want to make employees aware of how important it is to maintain a healthy diet in the workplace. Also, the fruit helps us stay hydrated in the face of high temperatures, so its consumption is significant at this time of year.
CAPTURING AND FOSTERING TALENT
In this last quarter, one of the projects in which we have been most busy is related to vocational training. We will talk in-depth about this in another article.
We also attended the V Employment Fair organized by the Chamber of Commerce of A Coruña. It has been a fantastic opportunity to offer our vacancies and meet new talents.
Finally, we could not forget our employees’ training, one of the big issues of our CSR performance. We carried out a bridge crane training, continued language classes, and created a new agreement training for new employees and a fluorinated gas training during this period. We also want to highlight the French electrical enablement training, which is very specific and represents a great value in our sector.
