Our objective is to take into consideration the durability of the constructions we undertake to equip them with the necessary comfort for those living in them and that they go along with the idea they were thought out.

There is no doubt that safety is foremost  in any of our works. There are certain installations in which maintaining that safety is more complicated that usual, but the solution does not have to be. As an example, SensorL aser  TM Plus fire detection systems, in which our experience allows us to address more complex projects, can be taken.

In this case we would like to talk about the fire protection installation in Melilla, through our client Tyco Integrated Fire&Security, whose works will be starting this month.

What issues did this fire detection installation pose?

The gallery of wiring for an installation of this type is a complex labyrinth with kilometers of wiring which inundates everything. The possibilities that this part of the installation overheating and causing a fire are high.

However, for these cases, fire detectors are neither effective nor inform of the temperature of each area along the wiring system.

What solution can be undertaken for fire detection?

Our proposal was to choose a temperature control system installation using fiber optic cable very easy to install in the cable trays. This cable makes it possible to locate the exact place in which  there is an increase in temperature and hence any possible fire.

The system connected to both a fire detection centre and graphic software is what makes it possible for the temperature of the fiber to be controlled at all times.  It is, therefore, easy for the fire brigade to locate the fire.

What are the advantages of the temperature sensor cable detection system?

A system which adapts very well to this type of installation as we are referring to:

• An area of up to 8 kilometers can be supervised using the sensor cable
• It does not require module maintenance
• It works along with the fire detection base
• It offers a quick response to the early phases of detection when the goes off due to an increase in temperature without smoke or flames
• It allows for a very precise subdivision in the measurement sector areas reaching up tp 256 areas per sensor cable

This system intends to avoid accidents, acting quickly and efficiently in the phase of an alarm by identifying the origin and by using means of extinction to avoid its propagation.
