Office HVAC regulations: what you need to know

Office HVAC is regulated by the Thermal Installations Regulation in Buildings (RITE), which establishes the minimum requirements for energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and thermal comfort conditions that all new installations and renovations must meet.

Among the most relevant aspects for any company:

Reference temperatures: RITE sets operational temperature ranges based on the time of year and type of activity.

Indoor air quality: a minimum ventilation flow rate per person and CO₂ level control in occupied spaces are required.

Equipment efficiency: installations must achieve minimum performance and be correctly sized for the intended use.

Mandatory maintenance: HVAC systems in tertiary use buildings require periodic documented inspections by a qualified technician.
