Today we want to tell you the details of installing air conditioning at a large clothing store in La Cañada Shopping Center, Marbella. The shopping center premises are large divided into two floors and with a total air-conditioned area of 3,010 m2, of which 2,562 m2 correspond to sales area and 448 m2 to the warehouse area and use of personnel.
The air conditioning system has been chosen according to the construction and use characteristics of the premises, which requires a correct functional response according to criteria of efficiency and quality.
To service the sales area on the ground floor, an installation was made of a cooling unit/heat pump, condensed by air of compact type that incorporates the corresponding pumps and tanks.
This unit is located on the roof of the shopping center, supported on metal benches. And it serves a total of six terminal units for air treatment. These air conditioning units are formed by a cooling tower (with electrical resistances for its operation in winter), filter section, induction fan, and three-way valve for its regulation.
On the other hand, to serve the basement and warehouses on the ground floor, it is planned to install a high-energy efficiency Split-system VRF Inverter, consisting of two condensing units that serve six indoor evaporating units of the fan-coil type.
The condensing units are located on the covered floor of the shopping center, exchanging the condensing air directly with the outside. In contrast, the indoor evaporating units of the fan-coil type are distributed throughout the interior of the premises. All units are interconnected by copper coolant pipe.


The indoor distribution of treated air is made through a network of Piralu-type conduits, rectangular section, using as terminal elements of diffusion:
linear diffusers and double deflection grids.
For the impulsion and the return of the air, fire dampers are provided for coupling to the duct to the passage of partitions in the engine room, equipped with a thermal fuse and manual reset.
Two crossflow heat recovery units with aluminum plates were installed on the ground floor to restore a pressure balance between the extraction and external air supply and comply with RITE regulations.
For the installation of fume extraction, two unique fans were installed. The internal distribution of the treated air is carried out through a network of PIR-ALU-type polyurethane-aluminum ducts of rectangular sections. All air supply and return ducts are constructed from standard 25-mm-thick fiberglass panels and equipped with a vapor barrier.
