One of the core objectives at Arce Clima is to deliver the highest energy efficiency through air conditioning solutions for the facilities we work on. Our current project involves the renovation of the Segovia Health Centre I, and we recently spoke with our colleague David Martínez, the site manager, who provided insights into the key aspects of this operation.
What does this Arce Clima project consist of?
As part of the comprehensive renovation, our team is responsible for the masonry work and the air conditioning system overhaul, which I personally oversee. The project involves a complete replacement of the existing air conditioning system with new heat pump technology, as the building previously relied on 94 direct expansion units across its various areas and floors.
What are the main challenges Arce Clima is facing in the renovation of the Segovia Health Center I?
The main challenge is conducting the renovation with the health centre remaining operational due to the constant patient influx. The work is being phased by floor, though the complete installation of heat pumps and pump rooms was required. The most visible aspect was the vertical piping across 6 floors, with only two closed to the public.
Are there any peculiarities to carrying out this renovation in a space such as a health center?
Without a doubt, in addition to carrying out the work with the health center open, the difficulty of sourcing materials was and continues to be one of the main challenges.
What are the energy savings implications of these renovations?
In this case, it is undoubtedly a substantial improvement in energy savings. Not only due to the much-needed air conditioning upgrades, but also the new lighting and high-performance windows, which amplify the savings even further.
How crucial is energy efficiency in Arce Clima projects?
Absolutely, energy efficiency is vital for Arce Clima as it benefits everyone; it’s a key pillar in project planning.
