During recent months, there has been an increase in the usage of mobile devices as well as the activity of using mobile services to buy and sell products. The impact of Covid-19 pandemic state over the worldwide e-commerce trend has changed the general consumer behaviour towards e-commerce. This means that 30% of consumers used e-commerce services during pre-pandemic whereas now over 55% of consumers are using it.
Trends for the future of ecommerce in 2021 fuel record online competition due to new consumer behaviours. Future of retail might be reshaped as it emerges as sale are at an all-time high. Shoppers worldwide fuel ecommerce supercycle: at the height of Covid-19, 10 years of ecommerce growth just happened in 90 days.
Big tech companies are accumulating more and more users over the last years. That is the benefit of the internet these days. However, this information needs numerous servers to be stored. Without these structures, the internet would not work as it currently does.
The need for HVAC and air ventilation systems are more relevant since air quality is one of the most important variables which needs to be accounted for.

Considerations when selecting the HVAC equipment
- Location of the servers and other key equipment
- Access to electrical supplies and overall electric loads
- Appropriate parameters for temperature and humidity in different zones

Arce Clima´s expertise in Data Centres
Our proven experience doing Data Centres is wide and diverse. Below, it shows our most relevant HVAC Data Centre projects done over the last years:
- Data Centre in Logistics Centre in Meco, (Spain) 2015: HVAC design and installation for Data Centre in Meco. Its area covers over 100.000 squared metres and provides around 1500 jobs (direct and indirect). Next equipment was installed:
- 2
Emerson precision air conditioning units, model PX041DA with a net power of
34.4 kW
- 4 Emerson precision air conditioning units, model S1AUA with a net power of 9 kW
- Data Centre in Logistics Centre in Zaragoza, (Spain) 2015: HVAC design and installation for Data Centre in Zaragoza. Next equipment was installed:
- 2
Emerson precision air conditioning units, model PX041DA with a net power of
34.4 kW
- 4 Emerson precision air conditioning units, model S1AUA with a net power of 9 kW

- Data Centre in Sallent, (Spain) 2016: HVAC design and installation for Data Centre in Zaragoza. Over 115.000 squared metres Next equipment was installed:
- 2
Emerson precision air conditioning units, model PX041DA with a net power of
34.4 kW
- 4 Emerson precision air conditioning units, model S1AUA with a net power of 9 kW
- Data Centre in new Pull&Bear headquarters, (Spain) 2016: HVAC design and installation for Data Centre in new Pull&Bear headquarters in Naron. A sustainable building with energy efficiency, indoor air quality and low energy consumption. Over 115.000 squared metres Next equipment was installed:
- 2
Emerson precision air conditioning units, model PX041DA with a net power of
34.4 kW
- 4 Emerson precision air conditioning units, model PX015DA with a net power of 13 kW

- Data Centre in new Inditex headquarters, (Spain) 2018: HVAC design and installation for Data Centre in new Inditex headquarters. Thanks to the efficient cooling system, 50% of the time cooling units do not need to work. Next equipment was installed:
- 2
Vertiv precision air conditioning units, model Liebert PDX021DA – 50Hz with a net power of 17.9 kW
- 4 Vertiv precision air conditioning units, model Liebert HPM S0HOA with a net power of 6.6 kW
When choosing the HVAC system, it is vital to consider the electrical supply independent of the server room. Without it, the HVAC system could easily have too much load and cause a disaster in the power outage. It also needs to be ensured the building electrical infrastructure can fully support the planned units.

Another key point concerns strict requirements. Harmful air particles, such as dust may cause chaos on servers if they are not properly filtered out. Besides, over time small particles might build up inside servers. With correct air ventilation systems and filters, these problems can be avoided.
Data centres have a much narrower range of acceptable temperature and humidity levels than a typical building. With the large amount of electronics housed in one area, it’s critical to keep everything cool without adding humidity. Servers are particularly sensitive to moisture. This is why the only plumbing near the server room is for the fire suppression system, the HVAC system, and where server rooms are internal rooms with no windows or outside facing walls.
