Fire protection is one of the main services provided by Arce Clima. Choice of the right fire protection system must be meticulously done based on multiple aspects, attending the client´s specifications and more importantly, considering the peculiarities of every single project.
On this occasion, the challenge was to protect a pioneer in the manufacture of particleboard and MDF. The whole plant needed a brand-new fire protection system to protect both human and material factors.
KEY ASPECTS IN FIRE PROTECTION FOR A WOOD PROCESSING FACTORY
In order to tackle a project these characteristics, it is very important to do a scrupulous study of the installation to be able to attend the rigorous safety processes of the whole plant.
On the other hand, the installation followed the current Fire Protection regulations applying not only the “Reglamento de Instalaciones de Protección Contra Incendios en Establecimientos Industriales Real Decreto 2267/2004” but also the new RIPCI rules of procedure. This last regulation was developed according to the demands of the EU, specifies Temperature control and Smoke evacuation procedures as well as other fundamental aspects in terms of Fire Protection.
We also had to focus in minimising electrical risks in a wood plant with these characteristics. Therefore, an additional protection to the emergency room has been done, from where the whole plant production is controlled.
