Fuerteventura, an island declared Biosphere Reserve by the Unesco. It has the largest steppe and desert habitats in the Canarian archipelago with the greatest biological diversity of marine environment.
Fuerteventura is also a model in terms of sustainable tourism so greats efforts are made to allow traditional activities coexist with the mass tourism which one can find in the island all year round.
The climate control installation is precisely linked to tourism. It is the Elba Carlota Beach & Convention Resort Hotel installed nearly nine years ago, being one of the first hotels done by Arce Clima.
The resort has over 400 hundred rooms, a casino, an entertainment room and a Convention Centre with capacity for more than 800 attendees. It hosts different events for firms, congresses…etc which shows the dimension and the magnitude of the project that was going to be tackled.
How should the premises of such dimension be acclimatized correctly?
Keeping these premises at a comfortable temperature was a big challenge not only because it was one of the first hotels Arce Clima had to deal with but also due to the dimension and complexity of the works carried out.
The project was performed at a very high level due to two main cooling production centrals of 388KW. One of them with a recovery system which is fed by cold water between 7-12 degrees Celsius. Also, these cooling production centrals supply primary air treatment units and communal areas within the complex.
Moreover, these two centrals generate the necessary cool air which the individual fan coils of each room work with.
The whole installation has a monitored system which allows for control and supervision of centralized data.
After an intense year carrying out works, the hotel was inaugurated in 2008 and nine years later, continues to perform at a very high level.
