The Inditex-UDC Lecture of Sustainability was born with the commitment to put in place initiatives to improve the strategy of the UDC in the field of sustainability and social responsibility and to bring the phenomenon to the university community and society in general through education, research, and the effective transfer of their results.
In 2018, Arce Clima participated in the “Responsabilízate” program of the Government de Galicia to diagnose and take its first steps in the area of Social Responsibility. Since this project, our company is working on different initiatives related to social responsibility and has managed the proposals, actions, and measures in this area.
The speaker of the initiative by Arce Clima is Jonathan Balay, director of people and teams, who will work with the members of the two participating teams formed by the students of the Inditex-UDC Lecture of Sustainability.
Jonathan Balay emphasizes that “the core of this project is the collaboration between a training entity such as the UDC and a real company based in Galicia, such as Arce Clima, and with which you can work with a real case and applied to an SME.”
Objectives of the CESIS Service-Learning Project 2020-2021
The general objective is to develop a Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Plan that allows Arce Clima to draw defined objectives and align the corresponding action plan with its values and interests in social responsibility and sustainability.
The following specific objectives have been established::
- Know the current state of the organization in terms of CSR and sustainability.
- Shape your CSR strategy through two axes:
- Protect and support the measures already being carried out by the organization for a policy of social responsibility contained in a strategic plan.
- Identify best practices in comparable organizations that suggest new proposals that help achieve the desired social commitment objective.
Working methodology of the Cesis Service-Learning Project
The service-learning project of the Inditex-UDC Lecture of Sustainability is a practical work of an academic nature in which students analyze the problems chosen by the collaborating entity and provide practical solutions to the challenges of opportunities detected in the form of an action plan.
In relation to Arce Clima, four themes have been raised:
- Partnership to meet goals
- Climate action
- Honest work and economic growth
- Gender equality
For 4 months the students put into practice the knowledge they acquired in the CESIS with a research work of the topics raised. This work is materialized in the presentation of a final document of the project that will take place the second half of May.
